Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)

Safeguard your baby's future. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) screens IVF embryos for genetic disorders, increasing your chances of a successful, healthy pregnancy.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)

PGT Explained: Taking the Path to Certainty – Advanced Genetic Screening for Healthy Beginnings

Planning Parenthood requires absolute certainty but the fear of genetic risk and abnormalities can cast a shadow. When planning your family, you deserve more than hope. Guided by Dr YuvrajSingh Jadeja, At Nimayaa Hospital, we provide the clarity you need through Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT). This pioneering technology offers a powerful look into an embryo's genetic health before implantation. This is particularly crucial when conception presents challenges or when there is a know history of genetic disorders within the family lineage. PGT moves beyond standard screening and provides the pathway to maximizing the chances of a healthy start.

The Scientific Journey: How Does the PGT Process Work?

  • 01
    IVF Cycle Initiation
The cycle begins with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, followed by egg retrieval. This foundational process generates high-quality eggs ready for fertilization in the lab
  • 02
Embryo Cultivation & Biopsy (The Core Procedure)
After successful fertilization (creating embryos), they are cultured until they reach the blastocyst stage (Day 5–7). At this point, a tiny sample of cells (the BLAST biopsy) is carefully removed from the trophectoderm layer, these cells are genetically representative of the placenta-forming tissue. It is vital to remember that these cells are not taken from the inner cell mass, which gives rise to the baby.
  • 03
    Genetic Analysis and Reporting
The collected cells are transported to our state-of-the-art lab where sophisticated molecular techniques are used. The DNA of the embryo is analyzed against known genetic markers or full chromosomal profiles (Karyotyping). Within a specified timeframe, Dr. Yuvraj Jadeja’s team delivers a comprehensive report detailing the genetic status of each viable blastocyst.

When is PGT Most Necessary? Identifying Your Need

  • 1 - History of Chromosomal Abnormalities - If previous pregnancies have resulted in unexplained miscarriages or failed implantations, PGT helps screen for balanced translocation carriers that may be present in the parents' DNA.
  • 2 - Known Genetic Disorders (Single- Gene) - If one or both partners carry a known genetic disorder (e.g., Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle Cell Anemia), PGT can test specific genes to identify embryos free from these conditions. This is often referred to as PGT-M (Monogenic).

  • 3 - Advanced Maternal Age - As we age, the risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities increases naturally. For women undergoing IVF after 35 or older, PGT provides extra layers of reassurance regarding embryo quality.

  • 4- Recurrent Implantation Failure - If multiple attempts at carrying a baby have failed due to unexplained implantation issues, PGT helps assess the genetic quality of both the uterine lining and the embryos themselves.
